We here at LAE understand what its like to receive this news, process it and then try and practically navigate this time. We want to provide some links and services to a few foundations that helped us on our journey.

Did you know.. you may be eligible for

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Receiving a cancer diagnosis is tough enough, let alone then navigating time off work for treatments and travelling for specialist visits or surgery. Cancer Council Queensland provide financial assistance to help patients undergoing cancer treatments as well as experiencing financial hardship due to their cancer diagnosis.

They offer $200 Coles gift vouchers, $200 Ampol fuel vouchers and pending eligibility criteria can provide accommodation supports or contribute towards accommodation costs.

Who is Mummy's Wish?

Every year 5000 Australian mums with children under 13 receive the devastating news they have cancer.

Mummy’s Wish helps manage the distressing burden of cancer on mums and their families by providing practical, tailored support during the entire treatment journey. This support gives the gift of time to mums with cancer so they can focus on what’s most important, being a mum.

Subject to our funding, our support may include:

  • Ongoing contact with a qualified, experienced support coordinator
  • Care packs
  • Recordable comfort bears
  • Cleaning services
  • Healthy meals
  • Grocery and fuel vouchers
  • Counselling sessions
  • Priceless information and resources
  • And much more!

Look Good Feel Better Australia

Look Good Feel Better is a free, national community service program, run by the Cancer Patients Foundation. The program has been designed to help cancer patients learn practical strategies to manage the physical, psychological and social impacts of cancer treatment.

About our program

Look Good Feel Better is a national cancer-support program. We offer free in-person and online workshops and Confidence Kits to help people with any type of cancer manage the most common physical and psychological impacts of treatment. In providing practical tips and tools, we help connect a community of people living a shared experience; empowering them to regain control, confidence, and a sense of self.

Since 1990 we have supported over 180,000 Australian women, men, young adults, and teens through their cancer diagnosis and we’re very proud of the positive impact generated by our program, with over 98% of participants satisfied and willing to recommend Look Good Feel Better to others.

The Otis Foundation - Breast Cancer Retreats

The Otis Foundation provides retreat accommodation at no cost to anyone dealing with the challenges of breast cancer. We currently provide properties in every state in Australia.

Each stay provides our guest with time out to relax, reconnect and regroup. Friends, family and partners are also welcome.

Our Unique Gift

Each year, we make close to 3,500 nights of retreat accommodation available at no cost to families dealing with the challenges of breast cancer.

Our aim is to provide the gift of time and space in an environment that allows guests to relax, reconnect and take a break away with loved ones in the hope it will reduce the psychological impacts of the disease. We match our guests with available accommodation retreats, suitable to their needs.

Mcgrath Foundation

How they can help

The qualified McGrath Breast Care Nurses are an important part of the complex medical team managing the care of people with breast cancer. They are specially trained and experienced in supporting both early and metastatic breast cancer from diagnosis, right throughout treatment.

McGrath Breast Care Nurses are there for you when you need it most

At the McGrath Foundation, we raise money to fund McGrath Breast Care Nurses who provide invaluable support and care to individuals and families experiencing breast cancer. From diagnosis right throughout treatment, McGrath Breast Care Nurses are available to help for free and with no referral.

A breast cancer diagnosis changes your life, often in ways you wouldn’t expect. The impact can be felt right through your family and friends. As much as you try, the diagnosis, the treatment and the disease can take over your life.

The McGrath Breast Care Nurses bring you and your family peace of mind through expert knowledge, personal care and genuine compassion. They can help you create time in your life not defined by breast cancer.
